St. Stephen's is a house of prayer for all people. Please be sensitive to the prayers and meditations of those around you and not carry on conversations in the church prior to the service. You are invited to the Gathering Area for conversations and visits prior to the service. Thank you.
“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)
All are welcome at St. Stephen's, especially our children. For this reason we have a “quiet area” with carpeting and quiet toys for young children. We feel that even as children may be at play, that the liturgy, the music and the sense of worship washes over them during the service.
Parents, please monitor your children in this area so that their activities and voices do not distract others from worship. This area is for quiet play for young children. We encourage parents to worship with their older children and help them become familiar with the liturgy in their own way. There is a brochure on children and worship on the back table of the church.
The Sunday school meets during the church year, September through May, at 10:00 a.m. and is appropriate for all children. St. Stephen's also has the “Catch Me” program to encourage children to participate in the life of the community. Information on the “Catch Me” program is in the parish hall.
The Adult Christian Education Program is also at 10:00 a.m. We generally have two adult programs to choose from. One is a class on church history, theology and significant individuals with discussion following the presentation (usually a video). The other offering is the Rector's Forum: a discussion group focused on some aspect of church life and the New Testament. Confirmation and Inquirers classes are also held throughout the year, (please see Fr. Lee for further information). Each year, the Sunday school, Adult Education, and Rector's forum take the summer off from June through August.
Please remember to bring food for the Food bank on Sundays (place in the basket provided). Your generosity is appreciated.
